Square Enix Announces Its First Sales Milestone final fantasy 16.
According to the developer and publisher, the game has shipped and digitally sold more than 3 million copies.
Final Fantasy 16 was released on June 22 and will only be available on the PlayStation 5, and the PC version is said to be expected at least a year later due to the six-month limited-time exclusivity on that console.
According to producer Naoki Yoshida, the team will begin “carefully” developing the PC version once the console version is released.
This is the second time Square has mentioned PC, but again, it’s going to be a while before it arrives — not even within six months of the PS5 version.
It’s also because the team spent a lot of time and money optimizing the PS5 version. In the meantime, Square hopes that Final Fantasy fans will give the console version a chance, rather than waiting for the PC version.
The game was announced as a PlayStation console exclusive in September 2020, but was also revealed to be coming to PC. Upon release, Square Enix seemed to hint that the game would only be coming to PlayStation 5, though the game’s launch trailer had an asterisk next to “PlayStation console exclusive” and noted “also available on PC.”
