It looks like Marvel is going all-in with Doom, as it was revealed at D23 that the next season of Fortnite will be centered entirely around the comic book villain.
Last month at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel announced that Robert Downey Jr. would be returning to the MCU… not as Iron Man, but as fan-favorite supervillain Doctor Doom. It seems Marvel is happy to go all-in on the metal-faced Doctor Doom, as Epic Games has revealed that Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 is titled Absolute Doctor Doom, and it will also feature new skins for many popular Marvel characters.

At the outset, if you purchase the game’s battle pass, you’ll unlock the Gwenpool costume, another fan-favorite character. Beyond that, you’ll also get skins for War Machine, Emma Frost, Mysterio, and Shuri, as well as a Wolverine-themed Peely skin and a Captain America-themed Jonesy costume. Doom himself will be available as a skin in September via a battle pass quest.
The trailer, which you can watch above, also shows off several new abilities you can use during matches to earn the hallowed title. First up is Captain America’s shield, which works exactly as you’d imagine, and Shuri’s claws, which let you slice your opponents into pieces. You can also use Iron Man’s boots to fly, use his energy blasts to smack people, or you can don War Machine’s gear if that’s more your style.
It was also announced that the Fantastic Four will be coming to Fortnite sometime this year, although that wasn’t shown in the trailer, and that The Incredibles will also be coming to Fortnite (they may not be Marvel, but Marvel is Disney now, after all).
You won’t have to wait too long to start the new season as it begins next week on August 16th.
