Boneloaf, the developer of the multiplayer fighting game Gang Beasts, hopes to release its next game in the near future. According to Connor Clarke, Marketing and Communications Manager at Develop 2023, the studio is considering returning to its original project: Grim Beasts.
“It’s interesting that Gang Beasts has always been the second game in a trilogy,” Clark said while sitting on the beach last week. “If you search back to the original post on the Gang Beasts website back in 2013, you’ll see that we’re working on a game first – I’m not going to point it out, I’ll let you try to figure out what it is – and that’s basically going to be our next things to do down here.”
Doing so will not make blog posts available on the official website, which appear to be missing as of this writing. However, if you delve into the past, you will find the results of Grim Beast. Several gameplay demos exist – many of which will seem very familiar to Gang Beasts players.there is even a old twitter accountlong deprecated since 2015.
However, a website called IndieDB can solve this problem, because it keeps the development details of this early project, including text posts of developers. The aforementioned text post lists the reasons why Gang Beasts was developed in the first place:
According to Clarke, the idea for Gang Beast came about after Boneloaf’s original project was shelved as the multiplayer mode became popular at conventions and brick-and-mortar gatherings. However, with Gang Beasts nearly nine years old and still going strong, the team clearly wants to finish development with a bang before moving forward.
“We had a vision for Gang Beasts, and we basically made what we wanted to make when we first released it,” Clark said. “It included everything we wanted to make and the stages, but with all the different model.”
“There are some things we want to add, like some kind of story mode, but we’re still thinking about how it will look. There’s something in there that’s not just a simple dogfight and gang mode that we’ve designed. Really want to own and hone in on it. We’re in A very lucky position, because we have time to do that too! The game has been out for nine years and has been successful, and we’re pretty happy, and ready for them for the next few years. We can focus now Giving back to the fans, they basically gave us the opportunity to do that.”
