Sailor Moon and Shōjo fans rejoice! In France we finally have news about the famous magical girl license that arrived in France 31 years ago!
It’s been more than 30 years since Sailor Moon was born. The series arrived in France in 1993 at Club Dorothée and quickly became a must-see, just like Dragon Ball or even the Ninja Turtles. Due to its popularity, the show was broadcast on many channels before disappearing completely in the early 2000s. However, fans of the saga remain and will have to give up television to enjoy the adventures of these magical girls. Luckily, a famous animation channel is about to put an end to this long absence from the small screen, and not just in any way.
A return of Sailor Moon with panache!
The TV channel MANGAS, which, as its name suggests, specializes in broadcasting Japanese cartoons, recently announced the addition of Sailor Moon to its program. In fact, the magical girls are celebrating their comeback, in an uncensored HD version! MANGAS is very proud to announce that they have remastered the work themselves after acquiring the rights. As a result, the version broadcast will be completely new and different from the version currently available on Crunchyroll.
However, we’ll just have to settle for the first season of Sailor Moon for now. To benefit from this you must go to MANGAS from April 2024. The channel also has other programs that the giant Crunchyroll does not offer. For example, in its catalog we find Ashita no Joe, a historical anime that aired in Japan between 1970 and 1971. It’s about a young 15-year-old orphan who is passionate about the world of boxing. A sports shōnen just the way we like it!
Sailor Moon anime is an expansion of the manga
The Sailor Moon anime has real added value compared to the manga: the story goes beyond what the books offer. The adaptation was commissioned as a media mix by Tôei (Dragon Ball, One Piece), a Japanese production studio. So a cartoon that would later be available in various forms (toys, video games, feature films, etc.). In the same way that the Ninja Turtles did in the ’90s with their plethora of derivatives. Therefore, it is representative of a time when television had a strong influence on what young people liked. Finding this anime on TV is a bit of nostalgia and history to enjoy. See you next April!
