Things never get less creepy for poor Alan Wake, and after all the fun we had in Alan Wake 2 late last year, he’s now set to be released as the game’s latest crossover on January 30 The survivors come to Dead by Daylight.
Following in the footsteps of luminaries like Chucky and Nicholas Cage, Wake is involved in the next chapter of DBD as part of a cool collaboration between Behavior Interactive and Remedy Entertainment, two companies that know a thing or two about the horror game as a whole. Of course, he even offers a series of unique perks to help you escape those pesky killers.

“Alan Wake has had a huge impact on our Dead by Daylight team since it first launched in 2010,” said Mathieu Coté, Head of Partnerships at Behavior Interactive, of the character’s arrival. He added that due to the many similarities between the two games and how well Dead by Daylight fits into the established world, “finally seeing Eren coming to the fog as a survivor feels like a complete time.”
Remedy Creative Director Sam Lake added: “From our early excited conversations about working with Behavior Interactive, it’s clear that both games are incredibly consistent in their lore and draw from many similar inspirations, a true match…hell .”
As you can see in the trailer, DBD’s version of Awakening looks and sounds small, just like he did in Alan Wake 2, thanks to actor Ilkka Wiley Villi and Matthew Porretta provided their looks and voices respectively for the chapter.
As you hear some authentic arousal screams and grunts, you’ll have the opportunity to take advantage of the character’s three unique perks, Champion of Light, Boon: Illumination, and the decidedly unrelated Deadline. The first lets you blind killers faster and better when wielding your flashlight, while the second lets you create a totem that ensures nearby survivors can see the aura of generators and chests.
Finally, when you inevitably screw up and take damage, Deadline kicks in, increasing the frequency with which skill checks pop up when healing or repairing, although it does also halve the penalty for every skill check you miss.
