Hideo Kojima, who is wrongly associated with the ghost project Abandoned, came out of silence to express his anger at the situation. Blue Box Game Studios does not claim to have orchestrated the craze.
It’s been a long time since we had a new episode of the soap opera Abandoned. This time it’s Hideo Kojima who talks about this “project” and his supposedly never justified involvement.
Hideo Kojima resented being associated with Abandoned
In 2021, a teaser emerged for a horror game, Abandoned, developed by a studio unknown to Battalion. Some believed the title was a new trick by Hideo Kojima. Although there was absolutely no evidence of this connection. The small game lasted for many months, and it did not please the creator of Metal Gear and Death Stranding, who received countless messages about it every day.
Users kept sending me pictures of this “Hasan” (note: Hasan Karaman, head of Blue Box Game Studios behind Abandoned). They keep sending me montages and deepfakes like twenty a day, it was really painful. When we did this Moby Dick thing (Note: a fake studio for the announcement of MGS 5: The Phantom Pain, You were involved, Geoff, and it was kind of fun, but people should know I wouldn’t do the same thing twice. I never spoke to Hasan, the game hasn’t been released yet. I don’t think there’s much he can say or do at this point. But if he releases the game, maybe people will understand, so maybe he should hurry up to release it.

Hurry to release it, yes, but the game would still have to exist. But there will surely never be anything like all those other times again… In fact, Hasan Karaman is not on his first try and has a heavy history. Long story short, the young man has a history of cheating with projects that never come to fruition and would even have manipulated and attempted to cheat players one by one by speaking to them privately. Including a miner who must have been slightly impressed by Hasan’s promises.
Blue Box Game Studios is acting like nothing happened…
Upon seeing Hideo Kojima’s response, Blue Box Game Studios magically reappeared to thank Hideo Kojima for ending the wild theories and ask players to stop harassing the Japanese developer.
We want to thank Hideo Kojima for speaking up about the conspiracies. It wasn’t cool and it was a liability for fans and developers. We hope that everyone can definitely continue. We’re working hard on Abandoned and want to thank you for your patience. Also, we ask that fans stop bothering Hideo Kojima about Abandoned. This is neither acceptable nor fun.
Fine words, in that relatively underhanded in that Blue Box Game Studios actually has a very large stake in all of this, as the company created and fueled the conspiracies. We remember that, among other things, the company launched a teaser to guess the final name of their game, which was supposed to start with an S and end with an L… like Silent Hill.
BBGS also subsequently released a blurry photo of a character with an eye patch who looked like Big Boss from the Metal Gear saga. Another time, an image of an Icelandic landscape related to Death Stranding was posted on the studio’s YouTube page. Messages were almost always deleted after a certain period of time. And that oil was poured on the fire as the being’s very dark past began to resurface.
