Publisher Warner Bros. has now commented on a possible sequel to Hogwarts Legacy and has taken a position. Here you can find out what the current status is regarding Hogwarts Legacy 2.
When Hogwarts Legacy was released in February 2023, the magic school game in the Harry Potter universe was a huge hit, selling well and attracting masses of players and fans of the fantasy franchise. In short: Avalanche Studios and Warner Bros. Games have landed an absolute hit with their magic RPG, which also set new records in terms of viewer numbers on Twitch for a single-player game.
Recently there have been increasing signs that the successful title could receive new content, but what about a sequel? Warner Bros. has now come out of hiding and commented on a possible sequel.
For example, Gunnar Wiedenfels, CFO of Warner Bros. Discovery, recently spoke at the Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference. In his speech, he also addressed a supposed Hogwarts Legacy 2 and confirmed: “Obviously, a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is one of the biggest priorities in the coming years.”
So it looks more than just good that Hogwarts Legacy 2 will actually see the light of day, especially since Wiedenfels adds: “In our strategic forecast, there is definitely a significant contribution to our growth from the games business.” Warner Bros. will therefore generally attach quite a high importance to the gaming sector.
Although things are looking good for a Hogwarts Legacy 2, Potter fans will probably have to wait a few years before it happens. In the meantime, they can have fun with the brand new Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, which was released just this week on September 3rd.
