The two companies, who announced their final merger in March 2021, will reveal everything they are preparing for this year and the years to come. A conference that players are waiting for at the turn because they have to rely on their 2022 catalog and on their strategy. Xbox Game Pass, Exclusives, Partner Games, what to expect and when can you watch the Xbox Showcase?
After a quality State of Play and a lackluster Summer Game Fest 2022 conference, the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase is particularly anticipated at the turn. What does Microsoft have in store for us with its first-party games and services? See you on Sunday June 12th at 19:00 (French time) to find out. The conference will last approximately 95 minutes and will feature announcements related to Xbox Series, Xbox One, PC, Xbox Game Pass and PC gaming.
To follow the event, you are spoiled for choice. The Xbox conference will of course be broadcast on the official Xbox channels youtube etc Pull out and also with a version that includes the sign language. The publisher should also share its biggest announcements on Twitter almost simultaneously with the live. In any case, you can again count on your faithful servants to share with you all the crunchy games announced at the Xbox conference.
Excluding Xbox, gaming, Game Pass, what to expect at the XBox conference
What to expect at this Xbox & Bethesda Showcase? A quick overview of possible announcements and rumours.
Gameplay for Starfield and Redfall. Featured Bethesda Games
The name of the Xbox conference is quite ambiguous: Bethesda will show things. Inevitably, eyes turn to Starfield. Skyrim in Space is very nice, but the dev diaries are ok for five minutes, we want gameplay. For the occasion, we expect Microsoft to offer a real presentation of the game, its mechanics but also the ship that should play an important role. In any case, Phil Spencer and Todd Howard have big ambitions for the RPG and it’s time to show what’s on his stomach.
Bethesda’s other major production announced should make the trip. Developed by Arkane Austin, Redfall is a cooperative FPS with a feel close to a Left 4 Dead. On the program: a mix of cartoon and realism styles, different heroes for different classes, lots of weapons and abilities. Gameplay now remains to be seen and Sunday night will undoubtedly be an opportunity to find out how Bethesda plans to script the game. Microsoft has definitely given one word of confirmation that these two big games will be shown. As for the Indiana Jones adaptation, it seems too early at this point, but its development could be debated.
Incidentally, we wouldn’t mind some surprise announcements surrounding Bethesda’s flagship licenses. A certain Fallout News Vegas 2 makes the fans salivate, others hope for new projects around Wolfenstein, Dishonored or Doom. As for The Elder Scrolls 6, we don’t expect much from this site other than a mention to remind you that the game exists.
Hellblade 2, State of Decay 3, Forza Motorsport… the expected Xbox exclusives
Between its personal projects and studio acquisitions, Microsoft is expected to be mostly at its home games. With nearly thirty titles in development, the list is inevitably too long to detail. However, some games are particularly anticipated and highly anticipated. Even if it showed up at the Game Awards 2021, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 could bring some news. Maybe just with a dev diary, but some gameplay footage would be very welcome. Ninja Theory could also lift the veil on Project Mara, its experimental game announced in January 2020 that would be based on just a single character and location.
All lights are green for Avowed, the next Obsidian signed RPG that will take place in the Pillars of Eternity universe. The studio has definitely confirmed its presence at the Xbox conference, so unless there’s a surprise announcement, we should have a trailer or a little teaser. Another game that could make the show: Contreband. The title Avalanche Studios (Just Cause) could also cause a surprise by revealing itself more concretely. State of Decay 3 could finally show what it’s got.
The same goes for ARK 2, The Outer Worlds 2, the horror game Scorn and especially Everwild, which was presented almost three years ago. The contenders are clearly numerous, but two contenders won’t be there: the Fable reboot and Perfect Dark. Activision Blizzard games will no doubt be there as well. Modern Warfare 2 and Overwatch 2 are also expected.
A Plague Tale 2, As Dusk Falls, The Wolf Among Us 2, a location for third-party games?
If Microsoft continues its momentum, some games from third-party developers should benefit from the influence of the Xbox conference. Already represented at the Tribeca Games Festival with a playable demo, A Plague Tale Requiem could appear again at the Tribeca Games Festival Showcase to reveal a full gameplay sequence and why not reveal the release date. Ditto for the Microsoft exclusive game As Dusk Falls. The narrative game of choice of Quantic Dream veterans had already had some nice communication during a publishers conference.
Telltale was featured in the Summer Game Fest 2022 attendee list and yet none of its games showed its face. The Wolf Among Us 2 could also use the Xbox conference to reveal gameplay or a new trailer. And why not announce a release on day one of Xbox Game Pass? On the subject, a rumor from a reliable source suggests that Hollow Knight Silksong will be available as soon as it is released on the Microsoft service. So the chances are good that the long-awaited Metroidvania will make a surprise appearance during the showcase.
Announcements related to Xbox Game Pass and service games
And exactly, without getting too wet, we can expect a lot of announcements related to Xbox Game Pass. As a true spearhead of Microsoft’s new strategy, the subscription service will again this year showcase the games that will appear on its service. This could be the occasion to finally announce the arrival of Call of Duty games in the catalog, as a leak had suggested. Microsoft should also be talking about Xbox Game Pass coming to Samsung TVs this year. And why not confirm the rumors of a family sharing feature in the style of Netflix and others. Aaron Greenberg, the brand’s head of marketing, himself confirmed that we would be hearing from services that Sunday night.
The Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase will also highlight upcoming content and Update on service games and previously released titles. Halo Infinite will welcome its next update, Forza Horizon 5 will reveal its DLC (thanks to the leaks). Sea Of Thieves, Flight Simulator, The Elder Scrolls Online or even Fallout 76 should also talk about their and their future Update futures.
New games and surprises at the Xbox Conference. The famous Kojima overdose?
What we expect from this Xbox conference are surprising announcements. At the top of the list is Hideo Kojima, who should acknowledge his presence at the event. The father of MGS and Silent Hill is to present his new horror game: Overdose. Otherwise, Microsoft’s home studios have many secret projects going on. Compulsion Games (We Happy Few) is reportedly working on a Gothic-influenced dark fantasy game. Wasteland developers, inXile Entertainment, are reportedly working on a specific Project Cobalt. An ambitious title set in a steampunk universe inspired by the industrial revolution developed on Unreal Engine 5.
The creators of Minecraft are also working on two new games that we don’t know about. Josh Sawyer (Pillars of Eternity) is developing a certain Pentiment, a possible 16th-century investigative-based narrative role-playing gamee Century. Rumors also speak of a Project Dragon ordered from IO Interactive (Hitman). The Nvidia leak has also sold the wick for a particular project Shaolin, which is being helmed by former Sleeping Dogs. What is special about this action RPG? The Wu-Tang Clan would be responsible for the soundtrack. The return of Age of Mythology is not out of the question, as is next-gen Forza Motorsport.
