Hyper Light Breaker Announced as 3D Collaborative Sequel to Hyper Light Drifter

Heart Machine and Gearbox Publishing Announce Ultralight Destroyera new adventure set in the universe of the indie classic Hyper Light Drifter.

In the game, you’ll be able to explore the world of Hyper Light in 3D through single-player or online co-op multiplayer.

The game is currently under development by the Heart Machine team led by original creative director Alx Preston.

“It’s insane to think that it’s been six years since we released Hyper Light Drifter. The journey from the dream project’s Kickstart launch in 2013 to now is unbelievable. It’s incredible to be able to celebrate the franchise in this way. Lucky for you,” said Alx Preston, creator of Hyper Light Drifter and creative director of Heart Machine.

Fans trusted us at the time to deliver on our vision; we can’t wait for our community to experience Hyper Light Breaker – it’s a new path, the culmination of everything we’ve learned during Heart Machine’s past eight years of development.”

Here is the outline: “Enter the new continent of Overgrowth in the world of overlight. Explore huge biomes alone or with friends, defeat brutal monsters, create new buildings, survive in the mystical crown and overthrow the almighty in this action rogue lite version. The King of the Abyss comes from the adventures of the creators of Hyper Light Drifter.”

In this game, you can look forward to an ever-changing world with large, open biomes and deep labyrinths where you’ll use your wall-rushing skills, hoverboards, gliders, and more to traverse these landscapes.

You can handle things alone in online co-op or lead a team of saboteurs through overgrowth and face off against hordes of enemies and real big bosses in third-person combat.

As you play, you’ll discover and unlock an array of weapons and items to create the perfect build for each run, while learning about overgrowth and the storyline hidden in each death and subsequent attempt.

You’ll also help the settlement thrive with colorful characters and permanent upgrades, and visit the settlers and discover their stories between each run.

Hyper Light Breaker is coming to Steam Early Access in Spring 2023.
