A writer and artist duo have shared some concept art showcasing their take on batman beyond Animated movies, yes, I need to make this thing.
It’s a very good time for the animation medium right now, and 3D animation saw its biggest improvement in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse . That influence seems to be continuing, and it’s quite explicit in the recently shared Batman Beyond concept art. Earlier today, Yuhki Demers, who was responsible for visual development on both Spider-Man: Universe movies, shared some concept art for the Batman Beyond movie, which has been teamed up with screenwriter Patrick Halpin (My Dad the Bounty Hunter). โ) pitched to Warner Bros. and DC together, and you 1. can easily see the connection between Spider-Man and the style of the universe, and 2. agree with me that it looks really good, right?

Demers explained on Twitter, “Five months ago Patrick Halpin walked into [Warner Bros and DC] and promoted a “Batman Beyond” animated feature film. Be fore we submitted, they warned us that “there’s absolutely no way we’re going to make a transcendent movie,” but they liked our enthusiasm. We came up with an outline for the entire film, and what started as “never” turned into “maybe.” We’ve been working hard at the company ever since to find James Gunn. But now, this is what we cook all the time. ”

Obviously this is just a pitch and no other details about this hypothetical movie have been shared, but I’m personally involved. I don’t think the futuristic setting would work well in a live-action movie, and the original animated Batman Beyond series still looks incredibly good visually, so animation felt like a perfect choice.
It’s no surprise that the tweet went viral, and while Gunn was tagged, he doesn’t use Twitter much these days (sorry, X), mostly posting on Threads, so don’t necessarily expect him to do that response – especially since I imagine there are some hoops that need to be overcome before this thing is approved anyway. In the meantime, we all must pray.
