13 years have passed since Portal 2 was released back in 2011. The world was different back then, people used Facebook for more than just birthday reminders, but one thing hasn’t changed since then: Portal is alive. The community will keep the top-rated Steam game alive in 2024 – and to a pretty impressive extent.
Best example: Portal: Revolution, a fully voiced new portal campaign that bridges the story of Portal 1 and 2. After Chell left the Aperture facility in a chaotic state in the first part, you now have to help it regain its former glory together with the new Personality Core Stirling. You can also see the setting very well in the trailer:

Portal: Revolution – The gameplay trailer shows the new Portal campaign in action
In terms of gameplay, Portal: Revolution offers 40 new puzzle chambers that are supposed to have all sorts of surprises and innovations – at least according to the developers. The game focuses primarily on logic puzzles and relies less on acrobatic skill and timing than Portal 2.
The devs promise a pretty challenging affair. Portal: Revolution’s difficulty level picks up where Portal 2 leaves off, but is said to offer a fairly pleasant learning curve. Nevertheless: Better brush up on your portal skills before you get started.
According to Devs, the scope of the free extension is somewhere between five and seven hours. Portal: Revolution will be released very soon: you can easily use the mod on January 5, 2024 via your own Steam page
Portal: Revolution was developed using Valve’s in-house Portal 2: Community Edition engine, which the studio makes available to fans to craft myriad mods for the classic. In the Revolution trailer, the developers make it clear that this is an unofficial expansion without an official link to Valve itself, but at least the mod ends up on Steam’s homepage.
