Apparently the end of The Boys is not yet in sight. In 2020, showrunner Eric Kripke (via Xformerly Twitter) that he would like to end his brutal anti-superhero series with five seasons. Now the fourth season starts on June 13th on Prime Video, while the fifth has already been officially announced.
Only five or fifteen seasons for The Boys?
But is that the end of The Boys?
I’ve learned that I’m not the right person to say how many seasons a TV series should have. Without exaggeration, I’m probably the worst person in the history of the entertainment industry to do that. Someone pointed this out to me and I realized: You’re right. This is ridiculous. I really need to keep my mouth shut.
And that’s what I will do.
By the way, Kripke is referring to Supernatural: The fantasy/mystery series was also only supposed to run for five seasons under Kripke, but ended up running for an impressive 15 seasons! Whether The Boys will actually run for a comparable length of time remains to be seen, of course. But given the ongoing success of the Amazon series, that wouldn’t be completely unreasonable.

The Boys: In the new trailer for season 4, even chickens and sheep have superpowers… Wait, what?
The Boys is regularly flooded with top ratings from critics and fans alike, and the ratings are no exception. The universe of The Boys has now been expanded to include two spin-offs – Diabolical and Gen V – while a third is in the works.
The fact that Kripke seems to be backtracking on the ending of The Boys series is not well received by every fan. For example, on Reddit A majority of users say that they prefer a right end
on a high note before the series goes around in circles too much and loses quality and bite in the long run.
