Diablo IV is a brutal game, both in its somber narrative and in its looks. The colors are subdued and the contrast high–the image perfectly reflects the dark material the rest of the game is dealing with.
Partly in response to some players’ criticisms of Diablo III, Diablo III’s performance has dropped slightly also Striving for the cartoony, colorful side of things clashes with Diablo’s typical tone. The end result is Diablo 4, a serious-looking game, which is why this recent reveal has been a lot of fun.
As you probably know by now, cosmetics can drop from in-game content, and you don’t have to just buy them in the store for real money. Treasure Goblins drop them, and some endgame events have a chance to drop some.
The most common are mounts, which are great because, unlike armor and back decorations, you might actually recognize them from a bird’s-eye view when playing. But what happens if you don’t claim the drop but discard it after it’s in your inventory?
It turns out that when you toss a mount from your inventory to the ground, it looks like a pony. While most loot icons in the game are flat, for some reason mounts are not. Reddit user zer0ag3nt spotted this, and was later surpassed by Senorragequit, who set up his own outdoor stable.
If you drop a mount from your inventory, you get a pony!

This is probably the closest we’ve gotten to a Whimsyshire level in Diablo 4–not even close to an actual cow level, of course. Whimsyshire is a joke level in Diablo 3, full of rainbows and bright colors. Instead of the usual demons you hunt down in the main game, Kinkshire is filled with ponies, teddy bears, and cute clouds as treasure chests.
Of course, you still need to murder everything, because this is still Diablo. So I guess you can think of this as a return to Kinkshire.
I’m the stable owner now
