The first three films in the “Karate Kid” series were created by the writer-director duo Robert Mark Kamen and John G. Avildsen. The main roles are Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso and Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi. The chronological order is the same as the appearance.
In 1994, “Karate Kid IV” was made, a film in which neither Kamen nor Avildsen were involved. Ralph Macchio cannot be seen as Daniel either, instead Hilary Swank plays the main role of Julie Pierce.
After Daniel, Julie is the new student of Mr. Myagi, who is again played by Pat Morita. The film is a chronological sequel to the “Karate Kid” trilogy about Daniel LaRusso.
In “Karate Kid” from 2010 no characters are taken from the original films. No reference is made to them either. Jaden Smith plays the role of Dre Parker and Jackie Chan that of his master, Mr. Han.
