Marvel Studios executive producer Brad Winderbaum has essentially confirmed that Wilson Fisk (aka Kingpin) will play a major role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s street corner.
One of the biggest recent surprises in the increasingly disappointing MCU has been the return of Vincent D’Onofrio as the unforgettable Kingpin in Netflix’s Daredevil series in 2021 Returned as Wilson Fisk in the 2016 Disney+ series “Hawkeye.” The show’s eponymous hero also returned through two episodes of Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Lawyer, and the two characters will clash again in the semi-rebooted Daredevil: Rebirth series . But before that, Fisk is a big part of Echoes , a five-episode show (also from Hawkeye ) that hits theaters next week.

With the Marvel Universe’s street buzz rapidly heating up, and the tone of some upcoming projects set to be directly upgraded to TV-MA and R-ratings, fans are excited about “Echo,” the new “Daredevil” series, and the new Marvel movies. All this raises many questions about studio production. In a recent interview with executive producer Brad Winderbaum, Screen Rant’s Joe Deckermeier asked the right questions and urged Marvel producers to acknowledge that Wilson Fisk wasn’t just responsible for Echo And Daredevil is a big bad, and a big bad for anyone ready to be a part of this corner of the MCU in the near future:
“As a chapter in Wilson Fisk’s life, it’s a crucial chapter and sets the stage for what’s to come in some extraordinary ways.” That might even include Tom Holland’s Spider-Man , who took on a more “neighborly” superhero role at the end of No Way Home .
As the first trailer hinted, Daredevil is also set to appear on t he show ahead of his own new chapter, as he has a close relationship with both Fisk and Maya Lopez (aka Echo) contact. The question of whether Netflix’s Daredevil series falls within the Sacred Timeline (the primary continuity of the Marvel Universe, as opposed to alternate continuities within the larger multiverse) has also been raised.
Winderbaum himself sees enough DNA in the new iteration of Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk’s first live-action adventure on television to consider it a part of the main Marvel Universe canon, albeit at some point The series begins to ignore the larger Marvel Universe events: “There’s another part of the company that’s developing something for Netflix. We know what they’re doing… Now that we’ve seen how well these stories come together, I think I personally… .will confidently say this is part of the sacred timeline.”
This contradicts what has been said (or not said) in recent official Marvel Cinematic Universe books, leaving us wondering who Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page and Elden Henson’s Where exactly is Fergie Nelson in the upcoming Daredevil series, especially when everything points to Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox playing variations of their original characters. However, in the long run, this doesn’t matter. We’re glad they’re back.
