5 Years of Kingdom Come Deliverance: Epic Medieval Mood for Anniversary
In contrast to many of its genre colleagues, Kingdom Come: Deliverance does not rely on fantasy elements, but on a realistic setting in a medieval region in Bohemia. So you won’t find super duper mega powers in this game. In general there is less fighting than is the case in a Gothic game, for example. The main story is also kept quite simple: you play a warrior named Heinrich, who gets on the trail of a big conspiracy. She shines with atmospheric productions, but always remains down-to-earth and clearly rejects Hollywood-style twists.
The strengths of the game clearly lie in its atmosphere. GameStar editor Dimi wrote in the test at the time: From the rough dialogues to the regular everyday life of the people to the believable landscape design of the game world – the atmosphere of Kingdome Come is a board!
In fact, it’s such a board that the title landed in our top 10 favorite open-world games.
You can find out what makes this game so captivating in Sascha’s column. He sat on it much longer than he actually planned:
