Viruses, malware, Trojans and other dangers can nest on your Mac.
Why do you need virus protection on your Mac? The answer is simple: Cyber attacks and hacker attacks are no longer just the targets of large authorities and companies, but increasingly also private users. Those responsible want to get hold of private information, spy on bank details or blackmail the victims.
While there are numerous antivirus programs for Windows, things are a little different for Mac users. Only a handful of manufacturers release a version of their antivirus program for the Apple computer. That independent test institute AV-Test regularly checks which antivirus software achieves the best rating.
Among other things, protection, speed and usability were tested. Each product has been subjected to a variety of malware attacks, tested for performance on the service, and analyzed for any false positives about harmless files. We present the latest test winners (March 2022) on the following pages.
