The rumor mill was already buzzing about this, but now it’s also officially confirmed: Marvel’s Avengers will not be developed much further this year. Crystal Dynamics has now officially communicated this in a new post on the website.
The speculations are finally confirmed: Marvel’s Avengers, which has fallen short of expectations, will not be developed much further this year and will then no longer get any fresh features or content. Crystal Dynamics has confirmed the rumors that came up weeks ago.
After March 31, 2023, there will be no more updates for Marvel’s Avengers; on this day the release of the final patch is planned, which will upgrade the game to version number 2.8. In the further course of the year, namely on September 30, 2023, Crystal Dynamics will then completely discontinue support.
The update to version 2.7 was last released in November last year. This brought with it the Winter Soldier, which expanded the roster of playable heroes, and the Cloning Lab Omega-level threat. At the same time, this is the last really new content, because the pending eUpdate to version 2.8 will apparently only bring the final balancing changes with it.
Even after the end of support on September 30th, the single player as well as the multiplayer of the game should remain accessible – indefinitely. However, issues that may arise after September 30 due to unforeseen events will not be fixed.
From March 31, cosmetic content will be made available to all players free of charge. Every single outfit, every emote, the takedowns and more are included.
Marvel’s Avengers was released in September 2020 for PS4, PC, Xbox One and Stadia; later upgrades for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S followed. After the original release, various superheroes were added as playable characters, including Black Panther, Kate Bishop and Spider-Man. Ultimately, however, the title could never meet the high expectations in the run-up to the release.
