Okay, it’s debatable whether the next Mass Effect should be called Mass Effect 4 or Mass Effect 5 – depending on whether you count Mass Effect: Andromeda in the series or not. The actual title will be a completely different one anyway, Mass Effect: Reborn or something.
There’s no arguing, but there’s a lot to discuss about why this sequel will be such a difficult undertaking for Bioware – and what we expect from the upcoming Mass Effect
In the podcast, Mass Effect lover Micha talks to colleagues Rae and Eleen from GamePro, who are no less Shepard-affine, about whether a new Mass Effect needs Commander Shepard and the Reapers again, although their stories have actually been told.

We rarely agree on this – for example on the question of which ending of Mass Effect 3 should be canonical. Bioware will hardly be able to depict all three very different outcomes of the Reaper invasion in the sequel.
Micha’s “war crimes” from the second and third Mass Effect are no less controversial. Let’s just say his Mass Effect crew took several… losses, to the dismay of Rae and Eleen.
For Micha, of course, they also have to be shown in the next Mass Effect – it would be nonsense if the dead suddenly came back to life in a sequel. Although Rae has a theory on how Bioware could circumvent this dilemma without having to ask our complete decisions from the entire trilogy before the game starts.
Or from the trilogy and from Mass Effect: Andromeda, because the new Mass Effect could combine both. That’s why we also discuss the best fan theories about the progression of the story – from the indoctrination to the dark energy thesis to the benefactor theory.
We just don’t really miss the Mako. Especially not Elena…
