The original Metal Gear Solid could be making a comeback once again – in the form of a full-fledged remake. At least that’s what a new rumor from a source that was reliable in the past suggests.
Metal Gear Solid and protagonist Solid Snake are certainly among the best-known names and brands in the gaming industry. The original Metal Gear Solid caused a sensation over 25 years ago and is considered a pioneer of the stealth action genre.
For many years, many fans of the Metal Gear community have wanted a new edition of the classic on modern consoles. In 2023, Konami initially announced a complete remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 called Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater – but the remake journey within the franchise may not end here.
The Spanish website Areajugones is now reporting that a remake of the first Metal Gear Solid is also on the way. The insiders who have been reliable in the past even go one step further and want to know that such a remake has been in the works at Konami for years. After the release of Metal Gear Solid Delta, the new edition of the first part will become the main focus of the development studio.
If you believe the new leak, then the remake will be reserved exclusively for the current generation, i.e. it will not be released for the PS4, for example. The PlayStation 5 as a platform is considered safe; a Windows or Xbox release has not yet been mentioned in this context. However, if you consider that Metal Gear Solid Delta is being released for PC, Xbox and PlayStation, the chances of a potential remake of Metal Gear Solid itself on the same plat forms are probably not bad. However, there is currently no possible release date for this.
Even Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater doesn’t currently have a release date; It remains to be seen whether this game will even come onto the market in 2024. It could still be some time before a possible remake of Metal Gear Solid itself is released.
As far as the source of the leak is concerned, it remains to be noted, for example, that Areajugones also accurately leaked the existence of the DLC pack for God of War Ragnarök before it was announced; The sources of our Spanish colleagues seem to be quite reliable. Nevertheless: As with all rumors, there is of course a residual risk that it may not turn out that way in the end.
