There are several weeks left until Disney + opens in Spain, but there are millions of people who have already enjoyed series like The Mandalorian. With the acquisition of FOX, Disney has taken over the rights of other hit series like The Simpsons, something they already predicted in 1998. Actually this was about a joke that referred to acquisitions from then on the part of the company, but over time it has come true. So The Simpsons welcomed them as they know best, with humor. However, the past cannot be erased and the yellow family has laughed at Disney many times.
During all this time, you have been able to see very obvious references to Disney as the episode of Shary Bobbins, where he parodies the popular character Mary Poppins. In fact one of Shary's phrases is that she is an original creation making a wink at «Practically perfect in everything» of the movie. In the same way, one of the most remembered moments of The Simpsons is the plan of Burns to make a coat with the skin of the newborn puppies, Cruella de Vil style. However, in this same gag, the tycoon sings as if he were Lumière de La Bella y la Beast and with a very similar melody. A mix that still reminds everyone over time. Next we will remember some of the moments where The Simpsons have parodied Disney
Disney lawsuit
In the episode Lisa, the beauty queen (Ep. 63, T4) a Carnival is celebrated in the school under the motto "The happiest place on Earth", they arrive Disney attorneys to threaten lawsuit to director Skinner if he does not remove this phrase, slogan of the Disneyland amusement park But the former green beret has enough resources to get rid of them by blows. This speaks of the power of Disney to defend its trademarks until the last consequences.
Mix
You can imagine what we mean. In the episode Rabid Dad: The Movie (Ep 478, T22), Bart succeeds with his animated series, which eventually becomes a Golden Globe candidate film. There he rivals the Mixar (Pixar) tape and laughs at the constant use of inanimate objects in his movies to touch the ridiculous. There are many guest stars in this episode, but there is a figure representing a Mixar director clearly inspired by John Lasseter, animator and founding member of the royal studios. This is where the fierce competition of the team is seen using even the lamp, Wall-e and Mister Potato, which in this case is a carrot, as weapons.
Diz-Nee-Land Amusement Park
There are many episodes where they parody the most visited amusement park in the world. But in The man who came to be dinner (Ep. 562, T26) are especially jocular. First they make a long trip like the one immigrants did to United States as the country of opportunity being received with a Statue of Liberty with the face of the animated Disney mouse. So there a double criticism which already anticipates that the visit to the park will be fruitless. Everything looks very nice, but they end up leaving money on anything, in addition to having strange Star Wars attractions, a criticism of what Disney has made the franchise.
Rasca y Pica and the Mickey Mouse co-creator
And now comes one of the most blunt criticisms of The Simpsons. The episode The day the violence died (146, T7) tells the story of the tramp Chester J. Lampwick, who accuses Roger Meyers of stealing his idea with the Scratch mouse in 1928, the year Mickey Mouse debuted. Bart and Lisa are interested in his past and help him sue the son of Meyers, current president of the company. With various tests he ends up proving that he was right and Meyers is forced to pay him a millionaire compensation. What does all this have to do with Disney, besides the date? This story is inspired by the figure of Ub Iwerks, creator of the character Mickey Mouse, although all recognition is given to Walt Disney. It is still a topic of discussion, but the episode winks like the fridge that has the head of cryogenized Meyers, like the legend that says the same thing about Walt Disney.
Simba or Kimba
Another direct accusation to Disney speaks of Simba not being a completely original character and The Simpsons also put their finger in the sore with this matter. The episode Around Springfield (Ep. 125, T6) picks up a particularly hard time for Lisa Simpson, since her Idol Bleeding Gums has died. No one seems to notice her absence and only Lisa appears at her funeral. The sad life and death of the musician makes Lisa do her best to make her theme sound on the radio as a tribute. Bleeding gums appears in the form of a cloud to thank you in a clear reference to the Lion King. But the thing does not stop there because Mufasa appears next to him and says "You must avenge my death, Kimba" and rectify the name below. Who is Kimba? He is a character in the anime series Jungle Taitei with great resemblance to Simba, except that it is a white lion. He was prior to the Lion King and suspicions of plagiarism always remained in the air.
