The reason for the suspicions are findings by data miners and some players in the main menu of Mortal Kombat 11. Advertisements for DLCs have repeatedly appeared here in the past few days. This is exciting in that NetherRealm has more than made it clear that the last offshoot of 2019 will not receive any more expansions.
The developers used a similar tactic for the last reveal. Mortal Kombat X was then given a major update that didn’t change anything about the actual game. Only advertisements were brought into the game by the patch, which eventually made Mortal Kombat 11 official.
So we can be curious when NetherRealm will finally drop the bomb. Definitely a smart tactic not to use the Game Awards as a platform. Even if the number of viewers at the award ceremony exploded again, there is still a risk of being lost in the same way as the other world premieres.
