Mufasa: The Lion King will soon show you the backstory to The Lion King. The focus here is Mufasa, Simba’s father. Here Rafiki tells Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, the story of her grandfather. Other well-known characters such as Timon and Pumbaa also appear. The exact theatrical release of Mufasa: The Lion King is not revealed in the trailer, but the film is scheduled to be released in December.
