News culture Netflix: The Sandman reveals Game of Thrones actors in the cast
An adaptation of the ambitious DC Comics series The Sandman has been in the works for several years. The first thought for the cinema with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, it will eventually land on Netflix in the form of a series in 11 episodes. This week the platform is formalizing an initial set of names associated with the project.

For sure Audible, Gaiman’s story is audio adapted in its original version. After the success of a first season that benefited from a fairly prestigious casting with James McAvoy (Splits), Kat Dennings (2 broke girls), Taron Egerton (Kingsman) and the author himself, two more files have recently been formalized on the platform. Neil Gaiman will return as creative director, executive producer and narrator.
The story’s popularity must cross the boundaries of Netflix this year. An adaptation with eleven episodes is usually shown there until the end of the year. Author and director Allan Heinberg (Grey’s Anatomy) is together with Gaiman for the production with David Goyer (Constantine, Batman de Christopher Nolan). The work is co-funded by Warner Bros and Netflix. And in July 2019, there was already talk of the most expensive DC Comics series in history. Below is an official summary:
Sandman will be a rich mix of modern mythology and dark fantasy, where contemporary fiction, historical drama and legend softly overlap. The Sandman walks towards people or places touched by Morpheus, the god of dreams, while taking on himself to repair the cosmic (and human) mistakes he has made during his long existence.
It’s Tom Sturridge, seen in the two-season drama Sweetbitterwho got the main role, that of the dream. Vivienne Acheampong (Witches) will play that of Lucienne, Chief Librarian. We’ll also find two old familiar faces on the series game of Thronesnamely Gwendoline Christie aka Brienne de Torth and Charles Dance, ex-Tywin Lannister. This premiere will play Lucifer, the master of Hell, a character who also inspired the Netflix series of the same name. Dance will play Roderick Burgess, charlatan, “Blackmailers and magicians“.
