For some time now, you have been able to test a number of new features for the Valve distribution platform in Steam Labs. With the »Interactive Recommender«, the first of these is now regularly integrated into the launcher.

How does this work?
Steam doesn't learn based on your purchases, but the titles actually played by youwhat kind of game you like. It compares this information with the data of other users. It follows the idea that there are players who have similar preferences to yourself. If they particularly enjoyed playing a game that is not yet in your library, Steam will suggest it to you.

What's in it for Steam?
Valve's launcher is often criticized for causing a lot of good titles to go under. With the new mechanics from Steam Labs the studio actively takes action against this criticismby making a sensible pre-selection for you.

Further features in progress
Steam is currently working on many improvementsthat affect the Steam store and launcher. Many of them are currently being tested in the Steam Lab. For example, Valve is working on a “Play Next” feature that will declare war on your Pile of Shame and suggest games that you already own.
Valve now also offers a news service on the shop page in Steam Labs, which provides you with the latest information and updates on your games. Steam's new search function has already left the test laboratory and finally lets you search more specifically for price ranges or VR-exclusive games.
