Nintendo is more than happy with the Switch. The sales figures are correct and you have only reached the midpoint of their life cycle. Does Nintendo even need a Switch Pro then?
In one Interview with colleagues from Polygon announced the President of Nintendo America, Doug Bowser, interesting details about the Switch. So the expected life cycle of the console has only just reached the midpoint. An upgrade of the switch hardware in the near future will probably be less likely for now.
Bowser finally gave a clearer answer to rumors that Nintendo was working on an upgrade to the Switch, namely a Switch Pro. That, according to Bowser, is not initially in the company’s immediate focus. The Nintendo boss from America is optimistic about the success of the Switch and Switch Lite: “The momentum of the Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite in the fourth year after release is strong. […] For the near future we will focus more on these two platforms. The games and their dynamics between the consoles make the difference to other systems. That’s what makes the Nintendo Switch so special. ”
With this, Nintendo seems to want to break the normal course of console generations. In the current next-gen one currently has no console iron in the fire and relies on the unique selling points of the switch for the time being. The plan seems to be working, because the Japanese game company managed to sell more Switch consoles for the release of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S than Sony and Microsoft were able to bring to the player.
The Nintendo Switch was released in 2017 – if you follow the statement about the center of the life cycle of the Switch, fans should So don’t expect a new console or upgrade before 2023. However, this release policy has one good thing: In the next few years, a lot of good games should appear for the Switch.
