Nintendo could add more classics to its Switch Online service. There are increasing signs that numerous games for the Game Boy Advance are likely to follow in the future.
Nintendo Switch Online is currently required for the online multiplayer of the Switch, but the subscription also gives you access to many classic games from the Nintendo days of the past. Starting with NES and SNES titles, there are now also games from SEGA Genesis and N64 times as part of the more expensive expansion pack. Apparently, GBA titles will also be added in the future.
Corresponding rumors about an emulation of the Game Boy Advance on the switch have been around for a long time and recently further indications of this were brought to light by data miners. Although an official announcement is still pending, leakers have already found clues to a whopping 39 GBA titles in the shallows of the files that could potentially appear for the switch.
The dataminer MondoMega has found relevant references and has now published them. Accordingly, pretty much all well-known GBA titles have at least been subjected to test runs on the switch, including The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap or Metroid Fusion.
The fact that there were such test runs does not necessarily mean that one day all games will actually be available via Switch Online. For example, the titles marked in yellow on the list published via Twitter are no longer available in the currently leaked file version, but it can be understood that they were at an earlier point in time in a test run.
Specifically, references to the following 39 GBA classics can be found:
- Astro Boy: Omega Factor
- Car Battler Joe
- Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
- Castlevania: Circle of the Moon
