Stellar Blade is expected exclusively for PS5 on April 26th and already has a little brother in the works from South Korean studio Shift Up. He is actively recruiting for another futuristic AAA action role-playing game. You can’t make this up.
Among April’s big video game releases, Stellar Blade is clearly one of our biggest expectations. Not yet released, a successor to the PS5 exclusive version of Shift Up is already on the way. Given the description of the job advertisements for it, one might mistakenly assume that this is a second work. However, some elements raise doubts.
Not yet released, is Stellar Blade already getting a sequel?
Things have been looking up for Stellar Blade lately. After years of the PS5 being a closely guarded secret, communication surrounding the game kicked into high gear in 2024. The first State of Play of the year finally allowed us to learn more about its universe, then a demo was released on March 29th. Now we just have to wait until April 26th to see if our first good impressions with the full version are confirmed.
But for Shift Up, the Korean studio behind Stellar Blade, it’s clearly time to look to the future. He has recently published various job offers on his site official page
The difference game
However, upon closer reading of the job listings for the game that will follow Stellar Blade, we can notice some small differences. Firstly, it is a cross-platform game. It would therefore not be a PS5 exclusive as it would also target PC, Xbox Series and even mobile devices. This new production would also be developed under Unreal Engine 5.
It is therefore still too early to know exactly whether it will be Stellar Blade 2 or a completely new license. However, it would be strange if it were cross-platform if necessary. PlayStation isn’t exactly known for sharing its toys. While we wait to learn more, we are of course waiting with some excitement for April 26th to find EVE and see where this promising adventure will take us.
