Obsidian’s Oath will begin epic quests this fall

public declarationis an upcoming fantasy role-playing game from Obsidian Entertainment that will be released this fall.

The release window was announced at an Xbox developer direct, followed by a new gameplay trailer.

Set in the Living Lands, a part of the world of Eora first introduced in Pillars of Eternity. In the game, you are an envoy to the distant continent of Edir, sent to investigate rumors about the spread of the plague.

You’ll soon discover a personal connection to a living place and an ancient secret that threatens to destroy everything.

As you explore the Land of Life, you’ll discover that the island is home to many different environments and landscapes, each with its own unique ecosystem. It’s also a place of mystery, secrets, danger and adventure, where choices and consequences abound.

Combat is varied, allowing you to mix and match swords, spells, guns, and shields. Additionally, you can use spells to trap, freeze, or burn enemies, and use your bow for long-range attacks.

Various species can join you as companions and fight alongside you. Just know that your choices affect them as you help them complete their mission.

Before today, Avowed had been a mystery since its reveal in 2020, tantalizing as it was. Produced by the same studio that made the excellent Fallout: New Vegas and the brilliant space comedy The Outer Worlds, it’s great to see Obsidian return to a fantasy setting filled with magic and behemoths.

Avowed will be released this fall, and it will be a while before we make it available to the public. Hopefully today’s game review and further reveals and announcements will support you as we move into 2024.

The game will be available on the cloud, PC and Xbox Series X/S, as well as on Game Pass day one.
