Blizzard Entertainment has also been granted a small slot on the Xbox Games Showcase to confirm news about Overwatch 2 via trailer. Season 6 – and with it the promised PvE missions – has a start date.
Blizzard used the Xbox Games Showcase stage to release a new trailer for hero shooter Overwatch 2. In this, the new support hero is hinted at, but above all it is now clear when the promised PvE missions in the action game will finally start.
The big update called “Invasion” should therefore be available from August 10, 2023 in the summer. Then the new Season 6 follows, while the start of the somewhat smaller Season 5 is currently scheduled for June 14th.
While there is no new hero or big new map in Season 5 and just a fresh Battle Pass and special events, Blizzard wants to bring out heavier guns again in Season 6. As previously promised, the story missions aka the PvE component are on board.
Although the comprehensive hero mode was largely scrapped as a PvE part, which caused a real shitstorm, the makers still promise an ambitious approach to the topic. The special co-op missions are intended to tell a linear story around the Null Sector fight and will be released gradually.
Alongside this, the invasion update will also feature a new game mode called Flashpoint, Hero Mastery mode, a co-op event and more.
