It has been rumored for several weeks, and now it is official at the last minute: Sony will be showing a new edition of the State of Play format in May.< /p>
Unlike Microsoft, Sony has not yet announced a major PlayStation showcase for the Summer Game Fest in June. Nevertheless, there have been repeated rumors and insider reports in recent weeks that at least the PlayStation State of Play video format will soon be back with a new edition. There was repeated talk of May, which is almost over – but at the last minute it is finally happening.
Today, Sony has made a decision and actually announced the State of Play for this week. The broadcast is scheduled to take place tomorrow, Thursday, May 30, 2024. Because of the time difference, it will actually be May 31, 2024, because it starts at midnight in this country. You can be there via the official PlayStation channels on YouTube, Twitch and TikTok.
What can we expect from the new State of Play? Sony itself confirmed that the broadcast will last around 30 minutes and will show 14 titles during this time. This includes an unspecified number of games from the company’s own PlayStation Studios that are due to be released this year. Furthermore, it will not only be about PS5, but also PSVR2 titles.
The PlayStation Studios games that have already been announced and could possibly make an appearance – but this is really just speculation at the moment – include Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games, a new Horizon game from Guerrilla Games, Fairgame$ from Haven Studios or Concord from Firewalk Studios. Possible third-party appearances could include the remakes of Silent Hill 2 or Metal Gear Solid 3. And of course, completely new announcements are not off the table either. We will know more soon!
