Every major PlayStation Studios release comes with a tempting extra for fans and their consoles, and the long-awaited Astro Bot is no exception: the best ambassador of DualSense technology literally becomes a PS5 controller. A great little treat that, by the way, will be available in limited quantities.
Under the official name of DualSense Astro Bot Limited EditionThe new edition of the PS5 controller is totally inspired by the shapes and colours of the perky robot that welcomed all players of the Sony console and the differences with the launch model are quick to become apparent.
First of all, the touchpad has been changed to black, revealing Astro Bot’s eyes. In addition, the colour scheme of the casing and buttons has been redesigned to match the character, removing the dark areas and coating the grips in electric blue. In addition to the silkscreen on the back, small embossed details have been added to the area that runs from the sticks to the base. And what about the price?
Although as a controller it will not offer any special or new features compared to the original PS5 controller, the DualSense Astro Bot Limited Edition retail price has been set at 79,99 dollarsThe difference is approximately 10 dollars, but it is clear that since it is released in limited quantities, it is not ruled out that it will end up being a quick hit. Which brings us directly to both the release date and the method for pre-ordering it.
To no one’s surprise, the DualSense Astro Bot Limited Edition will be on sale next September 6th coinciding with the launch of the own AstrobotHowever, reservations will open from Friday, August 9 (specifically at 10:00 a.m. Spanish time) both through the usual points of sale and from the website direct.playstation.com.
To be fair, it is curious that a controller is released Astrobot when the video game is designed for a single player. That is, we don’t have the excuse of being able to buy a second controller to share games like in Sackboy: A Big Adventure. Although, on the other hand, it must be admitted that its design is much more fun than that of the original DualSense.
A whim? Definitely yes, But if you’ve already had in mind to get a second PS5 controller, you’ll have to think about it quickly: these things don’t usually last too long on the shelves.
