Due to concerns about COVID-19, PUBG Corp. has cancelled its PUBG Global Series.
PUBG Corp. will host the digital PUBG Continental series instead of the PUBG Global series.
The PCS event will be held in May, June and August, with a total prize pool of $ 2.4 million, covering four regions: Asia, Asia Pacific, Europe and North America.
The first competition, PUBG Continental Charity Showdown, will be held in May. The prize in each region is 100,000 USD, and the other 100,000 USD will be donated to the charity chosen by the winner. As a result, the prize pool and endowment funds in these four regions totaled $ 800,000.
In June and August, PCS events will be held in Asia, Asia Pacific, Europe and North America, with a prize pool of US $ 200,000 in each region. There will also be a "Pick’Em Challenge" event where fans can guess which team will be the winner. In this way, e-sports fans will get new equipment and let the best performing team get more profits.
PUBG will also provide compensation of USD 20,000 to the 21 teams that originally participated in the PUBG Global Series: Berlin. Teams in regions that are currently or have postponed qualifiers will also receive compensation. Due to the potential spread of coronavirus, the event originally scheduled for April was postponed and later canceled.
