In the alternative Cold War of regiments, the rivalry between NATO and the Warsaw Pact escalates into an armed conflict. Publisher MicroProse released the real-time strategy game on August 16th on Steam.
And the first 200 or so player reviewers paint a very positive picture of the tactical game. The battles in fictional Europey in 1989 are coming up as of now 90 percent positive Steam ratings. We summarize what users like so much about Regiments and what critics are bothered by.
Before that, you can get a quick overview of how Regiments plays in the trailer:

This is what Steam players say about Regiments
The comparison to the strategy games from Eugen Systems, such as the Wargame or Steel Division series and the Early Access title Warno, can be read several times. Unlike these games, regiments have the However, focus exclusively on single player strategy.
player Evil-Six also praises the game speed and writes:
People are asking if this is a good alternative to the Eugen series games like Wargame, Steel Division and the new Warno and I say YES! I have all the Eugen games but I’m having a hard time getting into them because almost all of them are multiplayer oriented and the games are so incredibly fast and require such a high level of micromanagement that it’s just frenetic clicking all the time .
That’s not the way I want to play war games. Regiments is fast-paced, but gives you enough time to think and plan your tactical moves, and also gives you a bit of wiggle room if you want to zoom in and just watch a battle on the map, which I think is common in similar games as this was seldom the case.
The YouTuber goes even stronger Sim UK in detail, who received the game for free. This describes the battles as violent
and swaying wildly
. What Regiments lack in strategic depth, they make up for with plenty of tactical options. The YouTuber describes the graphic as grandiose
which is also due to the high level of detail of vehicles and units.

On the negative side, Sim UK decrees the lack of multiplayer and various flaws in controlling the units. For example, units could not be automatically sent for repairs and ammunition at the push of a button.
Another player named Takoyaki Tactics rated regiments negatively overall and gave one main reason for this:
You don’t move tanks, helicopters and so on. You move NATO markers. I mean, sure, you could zoom in all the way. But why should you do that? This is not a way to play these types of games effectively.
In addition, the user rips the sound design of Regiments as terribly unconvincing and lifeless
.
As already mentioned: This user remains in the clear minority with his negative rating. So far, most of the players have been impressed by Regiments.
