Kojima tweeted that “it’s been 8 years”, well, he’s not wrong. It’s been eight years since we took what could have been the best Silent Hill game from us — a complete revival from Metal Gear’s best Konami series. Luckily for me, who wouldn’t stop talking about PT and the loss of Silent Hill in my life, I was reminded that I’m not alone.

While I also immediately took to Twitter to ask Kojima why he needs to rub salt in our wounds, it seems that others feel the same – even guillermo del toro, he’s also set to work on the project, with a sly tweet that’s blasphemous. It’s all very bittersweet.

It’s sweet enough to see the love for this demo that it hasn’t even become a full-fledged game every time it’s mentioned. However, when Silent Hill was canceled in 2015, all we got was that PT was still incredible. The reply below illustrates this perfectly.

It left more of a sour taste in a lot of people’s mouths that PT is pretty hard to play today: not many people can even experience what PT is really about unless you have a console with a demo still installed : A horrific experience, one that promises to bring Silent Hill back to its truly disturbing roots.

In fact, the response to Kojima’s tweet was again full of people sharing their experiences with PT. Amid all the hurt, shock and sadness memes, many others can vividly remember the moment they sat down to play the demo. While we may never see Silent Hill on the horizon, it’s nice to see a community of fans come together in its absence.

There’s always Hideo Kojima’s next horror attempt to look forward to, and who knows, maybe Silent Hill will still be involved in the revival. There are many rumors.
