Amazon Fire tablets are available cheapest as a version with “special offers”. These display advertising. Do you want to hide the ads on your device? You have these options.
Amazon’s Fire tablets are popular and widely used. This is mainly because they are cheap, but at the same time they are completely sufficient for streaming, gaming or everyday things. The tablets are available in different versions, the cheapest ones have the configuration option “With advertising”.
This means that the tablets display advertisements on the lock screen. For this reason, Amazon can offer the models slightly cheaper than those without the advertisements.
Have you bought or received an Amazon Fire tablet with advertising as a gift and are annoyed by the ads? You also have the option to remove them later. We’ll show you how to do this.
Have advertising removed via customer service
Amazon gives you the option to remove the ads. However, this comes at a cost. The amount incurred results from the price difference between the tablet versions with and without advertising. This is between 10 and 20 dollars.
To turn off advertising, follow these steps:
- Go to that My Content and Devices page
- Select your Fire tablet here under “Devices”.
- Then click on “Remove offers” under “Special offers”
- The price for removing the advertising will now be shown to you in a pop-up.
- Select “Deactivate offers and pay fee” to continue the process and disable the ads.
If that doesn’t work, you can contact Amazon customer service and ask them to turn off the advertising for you. Normally this works quickly and easily.
Removing ads through Amazon Support for a fee is the easiest option. Theoretically, it would also be possible to cut off the tablet’s connection to the Internet via the router and still use it in the local network, for example to control the smart home. But if the device is used for streaming or surfing, this doesn’t make sense.
Removing advertising is also possible via detours and additional programs. However, you may lose the device warranty and, in the worst case, could destroy the device’s software if you do something wrong. We therefore advise against it.
In further instructions we will explain to you how to optimally set up your Amazon Fire tablet.
