Ubisoft announces release date Mason+ and information about game subscription services.
This is the sequel to the best-selling Rocksmith, which taught over 5 million people how to play the guitar—including yourself.
The Music Learning Subscription, released in June 2021, teaches you how to play acoustic, electric, and bass guitars through a variety of songs. The service is priced at £12.99 for a one-month subscription, £34.99 for a three-month subscription, and £84.99 for a one-year subscription.
For returning Rocksmith players, Rocksmith+ will offer a loyalty offer to Rocksmith 2014 owners and closed beta participants who purchase a 3-month or 12-month Rocksmith+ subscription. If you fall into either category, you’ll get bonus time on your first billing cycle, one month free for those who buy the three-month plan, and three months for those who buy the 12-month plan.
The subscription service runs on 10-year-old laptops with Windows 10 and will also be available on mobile devices later this year.
The game will be able to use your phone as a microphone to pick up your guitar and bass performances in real time through the Rocksmith+ Connect app. The service will add new songs and features over time, and promises “more music than ever.”
As far as the learning process goes, the game provides real-time feedback and video lessons through Rocksmith Discover on proper technique, gear, instrument care, music appreciation, and more. You can look forward to interactive lessons and even practice advice.
Rocksmith+ features master recordings of songs from Sony Music, Universal, and more, and at launch will have access to an expanding library of over 5,000 songs, with weekly additions from artists like The Clash, Juan Gabriel, Alicia Keys, Santana, and more New songs, and more. Genres will include rock, metal, pop, Latin, hip-hop and indie from countries around the world.
Learning Games includes a new set of improved practice tools that promise to provide you with a fun, personalized experience for any skill level. For example, the Adaptive Difficulty feature dynamically adjusts to your skill level as you play, introducing new notes and chords as you progress. The technology adapts to your skill level by measuring the sum of your abilities rather than the performance of individual songs.
It also features note detection and real-time feedback without the need for any peripherals. The mobile app is available for both acoustic and electronic instruments played through an amplifier, or you can connect your electronic instruments using a separately sold Rocksmith Real Tone cable. There’s also the Rocksmith+ Connect app, which acts as an accurate professional-grade guitar tuner.
