General Kirigan’s true identity
The beginning of the end: In the Small Palace, Alina Starkov’s (Jessie Mei Li) trainer Baghra (Zoë Wanamaker) drops the bomb: General Kirigan (Ben Barnes), with whom Alina has just started a romance, is actually about him Black heretic who created the shadow corridor centuries ago!
The shadow conjurer is actually several hundred years old and Baghra is also his mother!
Alina flees the Little Palace and realizes at the same time that General Kirigan has been manipulating them all along.
Kirigan wants to control Alina through the power multiplier
Alina and her childhood friend Mal (Archie Renaux) find a deer in the woods of Morozova. But Kirigan also appears surprisingly and kills the mythical white stag with the huge antlers.
The antlers of the magical deer become made a so-called power multiplier and put Alina under the skin. A small part is also inserted in General Kirigan’s hand. The villain takes Alina and Mal prisoner.
General Kirigan expands the shadow corridor and a fight ensues
Later, already in the finale of the first season of “Shadow and Bone”, Alina and Kirigan cross the shadow corridor on a skiff as well as the crows and Mal as stowaways. Kirigan can control Alina’s Sun Summoner powers through the power multiplier.
Then the villain reveals that he doesn’t want to destroy the hallway, but plans to use it as a weapon. He lets the shadowy corridor grow until darkness destroys the town of Novokribirsk and also eliminates his political rivals who were striving for the independence of West Ravka.
A fight ensues between the dark and his followers of the Deherzer on the Skiff as well as Alina and her followers: Mal, Zoya (Sujaya Dasgupta) and the crows Kaz (Freddy Carter), Jesper (Kit Young) and Inej (Amita Suman).
Alina is beyond Kirigan’s control
In this situation Alina realizes through a vision that although Kirigan was the one who killed the white deer, the animal actually chose her. She cuts the part of the deer antlers from Kirigan’s hand through which he controls her strength and her.
Now Kirigan is apparently being devoured and killed by the Shadow Corridor and the Volkra within – or is it?
That’s how powerful General Kirigan is in Season 2
At the very end of Season 1 of “Shadow and Bone”, Kirigan dragged herself out of the shadowy hall, injured but alive. And: The black heretic is followed by beings from the shadowy corridor that they actually cannot leave.
Kirigan’s powers have also increased: he can now command the shadow beings with his voice alone and no longer needs the hand signals and gestures that Grisha normally uses to control them.
But season 2 of “Shadow and Bone” will show another Kirigan: The shadow conjurer is almost omnipotent, but also alone and isolated. He has lost his rank and name in Ravka and is no longer the leader of the 2nd Army.
At the same time, Kirigan has created a whole host of new enemies.
That’ll be Alina and Mal in season 2
Alina and Mal leave Ravka by ship and first travel to the island state of Ketterdam, where the crows come from. The two want to recover and bring them to safety for the time being. But the plan is clear to return to Ravka at a later date.
When her powers are strong enough, Alina wants to destroy the shadow corridor and free her homeland.
Nina will help the crows in season 2!
Enthercerin Nina (Danielle Galligan), who was previously on the road with Grisha hunter Matthias (Calahan Skogman), is also on the ship to Ketterdam.
At the end of season 1 of “Shadow and Bone”, Alina gave the crows valuable jewelry. Her leader Kaz wants to buy Inej out of her serfdom and her contract.
But the crows have an additional problem: they have deposited their crow club as a deposit. Kaz talks about his plan to get the club back after all. But for that the crows would need a de-hearter.
Nina hears that, who is also on the ship. If the Netflix series follows the master novels by author Leigh Bardugo, Nina becomes in season 2 of “Shadow and Bone” the heartbreaker and spy of the crows!
Those: Decider.
