As Sony Interactive Entertainment awaits a possible PlayStation Showcase in the coming days, it’s talking about one of the big PS5 exclusives in development.
PlayStation has published the figures for its last financial year and the Japanese manufacturer has once again exploded the store counters with record sales. This means the company is in excellent shape, even if it could have been even better. Sales targets for the PS5 were narrowly missed and first-party games didn’t sell as well as expected. To clarify things a little and why not find out last year’s numbers, the company confirms the release of a new exclusive in the coming months.
An all-new PS5 exclusive is coming, that’s for sure!
While a new PlayStation studio has been founded, Sony Interactive Entertainment delivers news about a project that has almost not been revealed yet. Concord. A new sci-fi FPS for PS5 and PC, created by the new team at Firewalk Studios. Due to the nature of the trailer, we haven’t seen anything yet. The only certainties at this point are that it will be a player versus player multiplayer experience. And that the developers really want to push this dimension forward.
Here’s what the PlayStation Blog said about this PS5 and PC exclusive. “Concord brings people together. The ability to create connections and encourage social play is in the DNA of games. The Firewalk team is driven by these exciting and unexpected moments and the shared experiences that multiplayer games can create. Each connection marks the beginning of a new adventure and each playthrough is an opportunity to experience a new story. It is these ideals that define Concord, its unique universe full of vibrant worlds and colorful characters.”
Normally, Concord, one of the surviving PlayStation 5 service games, should release on PS5 and PC in 2024. This was the manufacturer’s original plan. Did this change? Not if we rely on a slide from the Sony Group’s annual financial statements. A photo labeled “Live Service Games” confirms that Concord will be released in 2024. And before that, there will be the Destiny 2 Final Form expansion on June 4, 2024. When will the date and a real trailer gameplay be released on PS5? Two hypotheses are currently possible. The reveal could take place during the rumored PlayStation Showcase or during the Summer Game Fest 2024 conference.
