Many successors stumble into a popular trap: the main character quickly forgets a large part of the skills that he was able to use in the predecessor while he was sleeping. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor takes a different approach on this matter.
By the end of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Cal Kestis had a remarkable skillset. Many players were worried that the red-haired hero would no longer master most of his abilities in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. No wonder, after all, many sequels force memory loss on their main characters.

Design Director Jason de Heras and Senior Director of Production Kasumi Shishido now unpacked positive information compared to Gamesradar. Accordingly, Respawn Entertainment will not force you to re-learn known skills. “We don’t want to take those abilities away from you because they feel good. You can’t take a step back and suddenly feel like a padawan again.”
Of course, this brings with it some challenges. New players could quickly overwhelm the array of skills. In addition, opponents must be designed to fit Cal’s powers from the start. In addition, the developers faced the challenge of designing exciting new skills and gradually increasing the level of difficulty.
As de Heras and Shishido went on to explain, they were well aware of this. “Cal is not a Jedi, not a Yoda. He’s far from mastering everything. There are tons of skills he still needs to learn. It’s not about making him too powerful from the start, but there is still one A lot of development towards the end.”
We will find out exactly what this progress will look like from April 28, 2023, when Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will finally appear on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
