Starfield was supposed to receive what Bethesda is hailing as the game’s biggest update yet today (January 17), but unfortunately, it’s been delayed a bit to give the developer time to work on what it discovered a mysterious question.
Bethesda originally planned to release the update as a Steam Beta late last week, and revealed that the update would be released in full a few weeks later. The update reportedly includes “more than 100 fixes and improvements,” many of which impact missions.

However, PC players eager to experience it for the first time will have to wait a little longer, with BGS revealing via a tweet that it has chosen to delay the update slightly in order to correct some sort of sticky issue.
“We’ve discovered an issue we’d like to resolve before releasing the update to Steam Beta,” the developer said. “We’re aiming to release it later this week, but we’ll confirm the timing once it’s confirmed. Thank you Patience!”
With any luck, whatever annoying gremlin disrupted Bethesda’s plans won’t be too much of a headache and a fix can be dug into and/or applied so that the update can be released on the new schedule.

That said, considering the studio seems unwilling to commit to delivering it before the end of this week, there’s a good chance we’ll end up waiting longer than expected to enjoy its slew of tweaks and revisions.
In devastating news, one looks to be yet another solution aimed at solving the whole thing of pet asteroids randomly following your ship around. I honestly don’t know how we can deal with the highly dangerous and destructive stuff that’s still in the game during this time.
In the meantime, you might want to check out some of the cool Starfield-related projects that modders have started working on recently, like this one that aims to bring a Top Gun-style fighter ship to the game.
