The space epic Stellaris, originally launched on PC in 2016, continues to expand. The next add-on, “The Machine Age,” has now been officially announced.
Paradox Interactive has announced “The Machine Age,” the latest expansion to the long-running sci-fi hit Stellaris. In the new add-on to the strategy game, scientists have discovered advanced methods of communicating with machines, allowing life to overcome the biological limitations of the body and mind. Accordingly, an era of technical glory is ushered in, which also brings with it ethical and social dilemmas.
In terms of content, a new endgame crisis and a crisis path await you in this thematic context. You must face a new synthetic threat or become a danger yourself as part of the crisis path.
Your machine empires are not limited to one form, but could have individual personalities and more diverse stories in the future. As a result, you can customize your empire with three new machine advancement paths. With the more profound machines you will then have to face the new challenges for your society, because every decision will be important for the further course of the game.
The following three new origins are also on board:
- Cybernetic Creed: The Empire pursues a divine calling: the sacred fusion of the body and cybernetics. Augmentation is worship.
- Synthetic Fertility: Once a thriving society, a new genetic disease renders the empire unable to reproduce biologically. Digital salvation seems to be the only way to prevent extinction.
- Bogenschweißer: A robot society from a space-starved world searches the stars for resources.
Rounding out “The Machine Age” are reactive portraits, six new condition elements, two new mid-game structures (molten arc furnace, powerful Dyson swarm), new population characteristics, new music tracks and more.
