The Acolyte seemed to have failed miserably with you. A few weeks ago we wanted to get a feel for the mood after the first episodes – and boy oh boy, the result was more devastating than the Death Star’s garbage compactor. But: the series was still running at the time. Episodes 3 and 4 in particular marked the absolute low point for many fans.
But you clearly disagree about what happened next. A few days ago we launched a second survey to find out your overall conclusion. And lo and behold, your opinions are now much more divided. Let’s take a look.
Your conclusion on The Acolyte
Both surveys can be compared quite well because the data pool is similarly large: Over 5,000 GameStar users took part and cast their votes. Voting was possible on a scale of I’m excited
Bantha Poodoo. The following results were achieved:
- I don’t like The Acolyte at all. (34 percent, 1,894 votes)
- The series has potential, but leaves a lot to be desired. (20 percent, 1,124 votes)
- I don’t really like the series. (18 percent, 979 votes)
- I think The Acolyte is pretty decent. (17 percent, 935 votes)
- The Acolyte is a great series. (11 percent, 609 votes)

The Acolyte: Disney already shows how the fights in the new Star Wars series were created
So: A new The Empire Strikes Back
we still don’t have that here, 34 percent of people think The Acolyte is a failed Star Wars experiment even after the last episode. If you add the 18 percent who can’t find much to like about the series, then we’re talking about 52 percent of the GameStar community who find the show rather meh.
Conversely, 48 percent of people tend towards the bright side of the voting spectrum. 28 percent think the series is good to very good, 20 percent see potential in it, after all, at least the fights are awesome.
The comments under our survey are mostly negative voices, which are very vocal in criticizing the writing and the logical gaps in the series. But to start with the positive, here is a constructive voice from GameStar user ondo:
The sets were great, the fights were breathtaking. The acting of the main character and the antagonist was unbelievable and unintentionally funny. We often sat there and couldn’t understand why some characters acted the way they did. It seems like they were trying desperately to fulfill a vision without properly planning the path.
I would still recommend the series because the technical side was absolutely top notch. 6/10
GameStar user Chadwick, however, sees things quite differently:
The storytelling of this series is a disgrace. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a production costing 180 million in my life that was so amateurish in terms of content and dialogue. Admittedly, I also thought Obi Wan and Boba Fett were bad, but this series is really the lowest of the low. At times you wonder whether the creators even know anything about the subject matter and even wanted to make a Star Wars series. Sorry, but there is fanfiction that is more convincing.
I am absolutely stunned that Disney allowed such a complete failure of content to pass.
The Acolyte is also polarizing in our community. The fact is: Based purely on the number of viewers, the series is a success for Disney (and Disney+). Currently, no one knows whether there will be a second season – but if it gets the green light, it will probably take until at least 2025 or 2026 before a sequel actually appears. Until then, there is Andor Season 2 and The Skeleton Crew.
