On September 6, 2024, Concord’s lifespan of just two weeks ended. The multiplayer shooter released by Sony for PS5 and PC was a colossal flop, and that’s less due to the quality of the gameplay than to a number of other factors that are currently plaguing the entire industry.
Concord is now history for now. It is uncertain whether the shooter will appear on the scene again at some point in the future and make a comeback. Sony now wants to explore options, but the company is not revealing exactly which ones.
The developers at Firewalk Studios, who have put their heart and soul into the title for eight long years, are now saying goodbye to their project as a precautionary measure. The result is lots of emotional messages on social media.
I am proud of what we have created
David Reyes, who worked as an animator on Concord, started things off. He posted a picture on X (formerly Twitter) showing the extremely rare Living Legend achievement. Only 0.2 percent of all players – and there weren’t many of them – had unlocked this achievement.
Reyes writes: This platinum trophy means a lot to me. Thank you team, we have created something amazing.

Bethany Hulse served as Community Development Lead and says goodbye with warm words in the small but apparently very fine community:
I can’t thank this community enough for the love and support they have shown us. Thank you for being here and for being a part of this journey.
Senior lighting artist Adam Alexander is no less emotional. He writes in his tweet:
And that is [das Spiel] gone. I’m sorry it’s gone, but I’m so lucky to have been able to work with Firewalk and this team for the past two years. I’ve had the chance to work with and learn from some of the most talented and kind people in the industry, and I’m proud of what we’ve created.

Further reactions from the developers – and how the Internet reacts
We still haven’t dealt with all the reactions from the ranks of Firewalk Studios. At the moment, things are continuing merrily and new reactions are constantly being posted:
- Jon Weisnewski (Lead Character Designer) refrains from using emotional words. Instead, he posts a whole series of short clips that show cool tricks from the gamesuch as the movement of the playable characters.

- Design Director Josh Hamrick, who has been on board since the beginning of the development studio and, together with the rest of the crew, in an attic

Social media users have mixed reactions to the team’s farewell posts. There is often a lot of sympathy among the tweets and some even regret not having given Concord a chance.
Other users, however, also take this opportunity to express their displeasure with the shooter – partly on very spiteful mannerThe technical condition of the game on the PC is also considered Goodbye

Meanwhile, the question still remains whether and how Concord could ever return. It is conceivable that Sony will release the game in the coming months. comprehensively revise for a Free2Play model that is also used in competitors such as Overwatch 2 and Fortnite.
One thing is certain: a large part of the development team would be very happy about a second chance for Concord.
