The supreme directive of the licensed game is: we want to feel love. The love for the template, the love for details, stories, characters. Of course also and especially when it comes to Star Trek.
So in this podcast Micha and Peter choose the best Star Trek games of all time – completely subjective of course, but at the same time with a logic that would make every Vulcan green with envy. If Vulcans felt envy, of course.
Each of us brought five personal favorites to the podcast, and in one case our preferences actually overlap, namely the real-time strategy game Star Trek: Armada. It wasn’t that great in itself, but it was an outstanding experience for us. We miss its greatest strength to this day – despite some mod projects that have revived Armada.

O therwise our preferences differ more clearly than a Ferengi from The Next Generation from Quark from Deep Space Nine. We just say “energy whip versus rule of acquisition.”
While Micha worships Bridge Commander, Star Trek Online, the Stellaris mod Star Trek: New Horizons and the Picard adventure A Final Unity like a Borg queen worships an omega molecule, Peter chooses Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force, Away Team, Birth of the Federation and Deep Space Nine: The Fallen in his Trek Hall of Fame.
We would be happy to explain in detail what motivates us to make this illustrious selection. In many details even, that brings us back to the love of the template. Who would have thought we were both big Miles O’Brien fans?
We also talk about the simulation veterans Starfleet Academy and Klingon Academy as well as about the old Star Trek adventures including the associated William Shatner escapades – which you can read (along with much more historical Enterprise information) in our report on the history of the read about Star Trek games.
And finally, Micha pulls a special bonus candidate out of the captain’s hat – because who could resist John DeLancie as Q?
