Gaming News The James Bond game from the Hitman developers reveals more; players can look forward to some very difficult stuff
We had to wait more than two years for news about Project 007, the James Bond video game developed by IO Interactive (Hitman). During an interview with IGN, Hakan Abrak, the studio’s CEO, spoke about this in more detail.
James Bond: The studio hopes to make three games
As part of the announcement of the joint release of MindsEye, IO Interactive announced further details about Project 007 through its CEO Hakan Abrak. Information that the studio’s fans began to lack. We have to come back in 2022 to find traces of an interview with Hakan Abrak, who already mentioned the team’s creative joy back then an original story for James Bond
The exciting thing about this project is that it is an original story. So it’s not a transposition of a film. This is the beginning of a story that I hope will become a great trilogy in the future. And just as important and exciting is a new Bond. It’s a Bond that we designed from A to Z for players. With all the lore and history, it’s extremely exciting to work with the family to create a young Bond for players. a bond that players can call their own and grow with.
Hakan Abrak therefore hopes not to create an isolated project, but rather three titles set in the world of the British secret agent. He adds that he doesn’t spit on the experiences the studio has gained over the last 20 years. And while James Bond is a more imposing license, IO Interactive’s CEO believes he has acquired some expertise in the genre. A know-how that he would like to show to the general public with Project 007.
A future standard?
Unfortunately, IO Interactive generally avoids Project 007. You’ll have to go back to July 2021 to get your hands on it Job offers for the title. We then learn that the title mixes the action and infiltration genres and envisages integration.extremely advanced artificial intelligence with a “new AI system” and at the same time emphasizes the narrative. Another proof of the studio’s ambition, this time on a technical level: transitions between cutscenes and game without loading time. Enough, on paper, to modernize the license. 007 Legends, the last, was released in 2012 . A wish that is also expressed in the words of Hakan Abrak:
I don’t want to talk too much about it, but I just hope we do something that defines James Bond in games for years to come. And it’s not just a game, it’s the creation of a universe that players can make their own for many years to come and that we can evolve alongside the Bond films.
With Project 007, IO Interactive wants to create a new standard for James Bond games. A title that shouldn’t appear so quickly, but is gradually getting closer. Financial reports a few years ago suggested an early 2025 release at the earliest on the PC and “modern consoles“. Enough to wait impatiently for news on the subject, especially since Hakan Abrak assures: “Production is going very well and we will talk about it soon“.
