Content Warning, Steam’s new viral game, has received its first nice update with completely free content, welcome improvements and several bug fixes.
Trends come and go. On Steam, more than anywhere else, it is not uncommon for games to completely explode the counters. While AAA has nothing to be ashamed of, the best performances often come from small indie games that we didn’t expect, at least most of the time. Further proof of this is Palworld, a survival game often compared to Pokémon that has literally destroyed the gaming franchise of the Valve platform. But recently, a completely different indie game has gone viral after being released completely free on Steam.
Content Warning is a hit on Steam, a huge success
It is Content warning, a cooperative game that mixes fun and horror, a bit like Lethal Company, another sensation from a few months ago. The goal here is to play an extreme videographer and travel through different environments looking for spooky, spooky events and whatever else you want, then immortalize them and then post them on the Internet, with the sole Aim to go viral. In your hands is the extreme videographer’s entire arsenal with everything you need in terms of selfie stick, portable camera and other devices to ensure you make the most beautiful horror stories on the Internet.
With such an entertaining pitch, simple and addictive gameplay, and a fun-with-friends formula, the game found an audience almost immediately, catapulted by an entire weekend of free play on Steam and, of course, a horde of streamers taking advantage of the opportunity jumped at the chance. As a result, more than 6.2 million players have tried the adventure on Steam and Content Warning is now going viral. The developer is quite proud of it and clearly didn’t expect such success, so the launch was a bit chaotic.
A first major update with free content
In any case, the content warning does not want to stop there, and free content will soon be available in an update that will also take the opportunity to fix a few minor problems in the process.
The patch adds several objects including a reporter microphone, an audio player and even a confetti cannon to shine in the company. Some balancing is also included, particularly when it comes to pricing emotes or adding mouse options.
All of this is already available for free via a simple update and according to the developers, more will be coming very soon! In particular, fixes to improve voice recognition in the game, an end to connection problems that can terminate the game or simply fire the host, as well as significant improvements in camera rendering are expected. There is still a lot of work left as the bugs are still numerous (although sometimes amusing), but it will happen soon.
