After the success of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, CD Projekt’s studio is currently working on Cyberpunk 2. And the team has just announced some news.
Just like Cyberpunk 2077, the sequel Cyberpunk 2 is also eagerly awaited. This is even more true when we know to what extent the Phantom Liberty DLC was a very good surprise for everyone. Fans’ hopes are obviously high and confidence in CD Projekt is solid again. Well, to tease it a bit, the development team announces some news about this very ambitious project.
Cyberpunk 2 gives more details
As CD Projekt explains in its press release, Cyberpunk 2, also known as Project Orion, is currently in early development
- Gabriel Amatangelo (game director)
- Paweł Sasko (Deputy Game Director)
- Igor Sarzyński (creative director)
- Andrzej Stopa (film director)
- Kacper Niepokólczycki (artistic director for environmental issues)
- Sarah Grümmer (acting main quest designer)
- Kacper Kościński (Director of Technology)
The studio explains that this group is now part of a larger team based at the newly formed CDPR studio in Boston, USA. But that’s not all, because New members also join the team. As we all know: the more, the better. Dan Hernberg joins the development team as executive producer, drawing on his experience as production manager at Amazon Games and in similar roles at Panic Button and Blizzard Entertainment. He was particularly involved in the development of well-known games such as New World, Apex Legends and Diablo 3.
Many veterans come
Ryan Barnard, former game director at Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft, is also joining the project as design director. Alan Villani brings his technical expertise to Project Orion as Technical Lead, having previously served as Vice President of Technology at WB Game, where he notably worked on the Mortal Kombat series.
Screenwriter and video game author Anna Megill joins Cyberpunk 2 as lead writer. She has contributed her pen to projects such as Remedy’s Control, Arkane’s Dishonored: Death of The Outsider, Ubisoft Massive’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, ArenaNet’s Guild Wars 2, and Playground Games’ upcoming Fable.
Finally, Alexander Freed, New York Times-recognized novelist, narrative designer and comics writer, will join The Orion Project’s editorial team. With over 15 years of experience in the gaming industry, he previously served as lead writer on Star Wars: The Old Republic at BioWare. Just that. This crazy number of veterans joining the Cyberpunk 2 project is still very encouraging.
What do we know?
CD Projekt is strengthening its team, but unfortunately Cyberpunk 2 is not yet ready for release. It is still in the early stages of development. However, as we were able to tell you, there are already rumors that the title could take place in the city of Chicago. The idea would be to take a little out of Night City and provide a whole new playground.
