The worst Pokémon trainers

When we think of the best video games recommended for children, we come up with many franchises, including Pokémon. Mainly because it is a friendly series that takes into account friendship, respect for animals and nature, among other things. It doesn't even introduce the death of Pokémon in combat, but that doesn't mean I don't have sad stories. In the last episode of the anime, the abandonment of a Pokémon by its trainer has been mentioned again, something that has happened on other occasions. Damien and Charmander

One of the saddest Pokémon stories has to do with a Charmander. In episode 11 of the original series, the protagonists enter a Pokémon center due to heavy rain. There they find out that a coach named Damien abandoned his Charmander on a rock

, promising him that he would return. Logically, he did not return. Why would I abandon him? According to Damien, the Pokémon was weak and useless. After rebuking him, they decide to go look for him. When they find him he is being cornered by a group of Spearow. After taking care of it, later Damián will appear aga in to take his Pokémon, after seeing what he was capable of and with the excuse that he did it to make him stronger.

Cruz and Charmander

Damián's role was assumed by Cruz in "The Pokémon Movie: I Choose You!", where Ash and Veronica meet a Charmander sitting on a rock. Cruz appears but instead of hugging his Pokémon, he treats him badly. It is then that he reveals to both of them that this Pokémon is weak and that is why he decided to release it. The scene is really sad in the movie, since Charmander's loyalty is seen following the coach who has just left him. Finally, Ash and Veronica manage to pick him up to help him, seeing that his flame is going out.

Mayor of Trovitópolis and Bulbasaur

In episode 104 called "The Mysterious Threat", the protagonists visit Trovitópolis, where they meet a mysterious creature in the sewers. Later it will be discovered that the mayor tries to hide it. Why? When the mayor was a child he had a Bulbasaur and wanted to evolve it, but when he didn't get it, abandoned him in the sewers. Now that Pokémon was twice as big and it kidnapped Ash's Bulbasaur because he wanted a friend to play with. The mayor far from repentance tried by all means that Ash and the others did not discover the truth.

Polo and Chimchar

You have to travel to Pokémon Diamond and Pearl to find this story. Perhaps it is not as heartbreaking as the previous ones, but just as despicable. Polo confronts Ash and in the first meeting he beats him with Chimchar. But fate wanted them to meet again in episode 521, where they participate in the Heart Combat competition. It is a tournament in which they fight in pairs and Polo teams up with Ash. But when he loses Chimchar, he decides to free him. Later Ash would capture it, as it had been happening with abandoned Pokémon.

Shamus and Tepig

Like Damien and Polo, Shamus is arrogant and unaffected by his Pokémon, especially Tepig. In 664, Shamus fights against a Deerling in the Battle Club, but loses. He decides to tie his Tepig to a stick to prevent him from following him, abandoning him to his fate. Again, Ash would take him in and together they would face Shamus in combat. The trainer still thinks Tepig is useless and trusting, but he evolves into Pignite and defeats his Pokémon. Shamus then asks him to return to him, but Pignite does not agree.

Coach and Gengar

We finally come to the last episode of Pokémon, where Ash's latest and surprising catch is yet another abandoned Pokémon. On this occasion, we do not know the name of the coach, but he presents himself as an arrogant and superstitious boy. He thinks that since he captured Gengar everything has gone wrong, so he thinks that everything is part of a curse that has prevented him from winning matches and catch other Pokémon. So he decided to abandon him, telling him not to move from the place. The story of this Gengar is really bleak because little by little he was poisoned until become a troublesome Pokémon both in the haunted house and in Sakuragai's laboratory.
