News culture This fantasy film is a classic, but its 0% rated sequel is one of the worst ever made!
The saga logic that prevailed in Hollywood was certainly the origin of several great works, but this race for “easy” money also gave rise to cinematic objects that were at least perfectable, if not completely unsuccessful. A film released in 1986 that was an excellent surprise spawned several sequels and even a television series. Unfortunately, the supposedly direct sequel joins the pantheon of the worst of all time.
Highlander II, the worst sequel ever?
Although it was a flop upon its release in 1986, “Highlander” gained cult film status over time, without achieving the aura of Blade Runner. Directed by Russell Mulcahy (“Resident Evil Extinction,” “Teen Wolf the Movie”). This fantastic film follows Christophe Lambert and Sean Connery on an adventure through time and tells the unique lives of immortals dedicated to kill ing each other.
With its atypical concept, its sword fights and its diverse actors, “Highlander” conquers the hearts of moviegoers and other moviegoers over time. Although that first film failed at the box office ($12.8 million for 19 million gross), a sequel is in the works, with the same director behind the camera and the same leading man at the helm. “Highlander, the Return” was released in 1991 and seemed like a cold shower to fans of the saga and the press. Highlander II, The Quickening, as it is called in the original title, manages to ruin the lore of the saga. The 0% rating given by the press on RottenTomatoes speaks for itself. If there can only be one thing left, it’s clearly not this completely disavowed sequel.

A reboot with Henry Cavill
It’s now official. The director of the John Wick saga starring Keanu Reeves is currently working on the cinematic reboot of the Highlander series, which, in addition to its six films, has also seen an expansion of its universe with two television series, games, comics and an animated series. Chad Stahelski takes this license and entrusts the title role to none other than Henry Cavill.
